Is the ACCORN Brand Destroyed?
Any brand built on a false promise and behind a facade cannot survive a crisis, no matter how much money is behind them. Consider the case of ACCORN which received some 5.4 Billion US Tax Payer Dollars as part of Barrack Obama’s stimulus plan to save our economy and provide jobs. The organization, which Barrack Obama had once been a “community organizer” for [some of his opponents have said he was a "community protest organizer for] hit the jackpot when he became President, knowing he would not forget his roots.
A recent article in the mainstream media was title; “ACCORN Fights to Save its Reputation,” and it shot across the Associated Press. Obviously, it was in reference to the problems uncovered with ACCORN during those sting investigations in many locations around America. It is quite amazing how fast a brand name can fall, when it doesn’t look after its own image. It is too late for acorn now, their brand name is shot and completely destroyed in the minds of the voters.
This does not mean that their hundreds of thousands of employees do not still believe in the organization, they probably do because they are getting a paycheck, and they are just glad to have work. Nevertheless, ACCORN will not receive any more federal monies, especially under this administration, even though President Barack Obama before he was elected said he would always support ACORN.
ACCORN most likely will not be able to participate in the 2010 Census, or receive any taxpayer’s monies to do that. This is an interesting case study on how in our organization with everything going for it imploded, but it shouldn’t be too surprising since this particular organization was really only smoke and mirrors. I’d like you to please consider all this.
