Animal Testing: Is it Inhumane?
Animals are always used as ‘testing grounds’ or guinea pigs for any given development in medicine, food, drugs, and other chemicals that are invented with the intent for human consumption. These animals are not only small rats but they include monkeys, horses, and yes, even house pets like cats and dogs.
Why should we agree with animal testing?
- One good thing about animal testing is that this ensures that prior to distribution for human consumption, the food or drug are proven to be effective through laboratory tests.
- It gives the assurance to people that the newly developed drugs will be of no harmful side effects to human beings. It guarantees peace of mind since the medicines were tested on animals, probably to the closes kin of human beings, the monkeys and the primates.
- People, then, have the ability to run a test similar to beta testing in terms of computers.
- There is a foolproof way of finding out if a discovery or invention in the world of medicine is effective or not.
However, one should not forget that there is a bad side to this.
- Animals are also creatures that deserve freedom and life.
- Just because humans are of higher intellect does not mean that animals should be manipulated for the good of mankind.
- People do not know that animals are mutilated just to test these medications.
- Some of them are surgically operated and had their kidneys removed just to test if the other would still fail after the medication was applied.
- It is really gross to think that poor animals are mercilessly killed even if they do not deserve it.
What do you think about testing on animals: are you pro or against it?

I see the pros and cons but I do not agree with the animal testing. What if it was us as the dogs and the dogs us.
